Let's write a fairy tale together!

Why don't we try to write a story together? It could be about anything. Any genre, any heroes, any twists. I will start the story and you can continue it with comments. Who knows, where this would lead us? There is only one rule (besides the general forum rules): please, try to follow up the last comment.
Let's begin: "Many years ago in a small village..."

In the midst of famine, a young peasant arose from his/her fields to appeal to his/her peers to take action against the cruel overlord...

Who's righteous wrath start to shatter a bit when he discover from his mother, while complaining from "evil overlord", that person is actually his father who is allso responsible for his education (bit of history, ability to spell his own name and some basic math) in form of travelling monk who give this pesant "boy" and his family allways some gifts and coins while he pass by from overlords castle to some far away places...

And thus the story came to an abrupt end.

The would be hero, slain not by sword or inquisition
Nor by spear, nor claw, tooth, nor fall
    But by most dreadful exposition

    And there was much rejoicing.

...a paladin, a fighter, a red-haired rogue and a druid not in his beast form sit around a table lamenting the loss of their comrades and the massive death and destruction brought down upon the realm by the monster they last fought.

Fighter: "I saw all these people die..."

Paladin: "I keep telling everybody they should move on. Some do, but not us... not us."
